Paul had followed me around the house, muttering under his breath about wasted money and days spent on New Age quests.

“You’ll get lost, like you always do. Or you’ll have to park a mile away, pay a fortune, and then ask for directions on how to get to the hotel. Just so you know, I’m golfing all day and won’t be able to rescue you.”

I wish I hadn’t told him about the workshop. I hadn’t been able to rein in my excitement when I saw the poster at the library. Reasonably priced and so near. But not near enough or cheap enough to satisfy a critical, overbearing husband who couldn’t and wouldn’t support any hints of changes in his well-orchestrated life. And there would be changes. If not this year, then next.
