Established in 1981 by a unanimous United Nations resolution, International Peace Day (Peace Day) provides a globally shared date for humanity to rise above all differences and contribute to a building a culture of peace.
I’m sharing one of my favorite poems from Maya Angelou:
Hey, Joanne. Maybe if we all whispered the word at the same time, we could achieve some level of peace. My church has a Peace & Global Witness Offering in October, trying to help raise our awareness of the issue. In the past, we’ve taken a separate offering to got to agencies that support people in crisis. Thank you for putting the spotlight on this important issue.
An excellent idea! Those whispers could carry around the world and embolden leaders to take positive action. 🙂
